The Otherworld

I woke up that day to learn that there was no one else in the house. Its already late evening and my room-mates are supposed to be at home right now.

“where have they gone to?” I said in my heart. My head was strangely in pain, feels like there’s like something got stuck in my head.

I stood up and checked the surrounding… silence, nothing but silence. For some reason, the room became so eerie, that same feeling when you are told ghost stories or watching Ghost Adventure, that gave chills all over my body. I checked my phone, there was not a single signal bar. A faint sound emanates from the phone as faint light flickers.

“Static sound?”

My thumb frantically pushed every button on the phone to make it stop, but the static sound and flickering still continue. Up to a point where garbled text popped up on the small screen, it turned off in an instant.

Still confused with what happened, I walked towards the front door to get some fresh air, the air inside was kind of stagnant to the point that I couldn’t breath right. As I opened the door and stepped out, something went wrong. I heard whispers, murmurs and all sorts of sound that I can’t really recognize as I walked that few steps off the door.

The surroundings suddenly “revolves” around me, my breathing become so heavy, my whole body increasingly goes numb by the second as I started to lose focus. The pain in my head intensifies like its been stabbed many times.

“Dammit! What is wrong with me??” I gradually felt weaker as I tripped down the floor. The weird sound began to fade into deep silence, to a point I could only hear ringing sound in my head. I struggled to crawl but there is no energy left in my body.

That was when I blacked out.

I don’t know how long I passed out but I felt no pain on my head as I woke up. To my surprise, the surroundings became so different, its pretty dark but some how illuminated by some light that I thought was some street light. I assumed it was already night time, but I felt something amiss.

Checking the surrounding again, I can’t help to notice the place is mostly covered with rust and smothered in red substance. I examined closely to the door I opened earlier and examined the red substance.

Damn, its blood, real blood.

I can’t bear the smell that suddenly hoarded my nostrils, feels like I’m in a garbage bin, or worse, in a morgue.

“Where the heck am I now?, what is this place?” I stepped out of my home gate as the rust and blood suddenly spreads out through the whole place like wildfire.

That is the moment I realized, that this was not the same housing lot I lived in.

I was weak. That’s why I needed you. Needed somebody to punish me for my sins…..But that’s all over now. I know the truth. Now its time to end this. ~ James Sunderland, Silent Hill 2
