My Waterworld: Borneo Reef World

This journey was made a few weeks ago, team everydayfoodilove.co (Angeline Ong, Monica Ong and Jack Baxter) with me, Calista, Hayden and Vincent went for a very special sea trip. Instead of hopping on an island, we had the opportunity to have an exclusive sneak preview of Borneo Reef World.

Borneo Reef World is a reef activity pontoon anchored just off Sapi Island, one of the islands in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. This place is said to be the largest Reef Activity Pontoon in Asia, equally  modern as  the ones operated at the Great Barrier Reef, Australia.  It measures about 37.5m (Length) by 24.5m (Width) and by 11.8m (Height), built tough with high marine grade rust-proof aluminium.

Here are the fares to make a trip to Borneo Reef World ,

Adults (Above 12 Years Old): RM 360.00
Child (4-12 Years Old): RM 230.00
Family 2Adults/2Kids Child 4-12 years old: RM 950.00

Fees include: Jetty Fee (RM 7.00), PA Insurance (RM 3.00) and Fuel Surcharge (RM 30.00).

Do take note of the daily departures from Sabah Point Jetty.
Boarding Time: 0900 / 9.00 AM
Return Time: 1600 / 4.00 PM

This place greatly reminds me of one old movie I used to watch, Waterworld (starring Kevin Costner).

Its a beautiful scenery here, a place distant from the busy city life, the blue sea and constant breeze blowing in, this is a great getaway place.

Ohhhh, its an Underwater Observatory, nice!

The place come equipped with fans and air condition so you’re not feeling hot inside. At one side, you can see the beautiful underwater creatures, the only thing between you and them creatures is the glass window.

Visitors enjoyed great time snorkeling here,

I admit that I’m not a good swimmer, I tend to just float around rather that swimming far from the pontoon.

But you still can enjoy something special, Seawalking.

A very unique and fun experience where you can see the reef up close while walking among the fishes around. If you have a chance to be here, you definitely need to try this. Price: RM150.00 per 20 mins dive.

Motorised Kayak – Sea Spies

Enjoy the experience of our motorized glass bottom Sea-Spies to optimize your underwater observation of the Sabah Reef ecosystem. You will see, cruise and discover more about the amazing reef with this exceptional machines. Price: RM50.00 per 30 mins, RM80.00 per hour

Parasailing

Enjoy the scenic beauty and panoramic view of the great reef of Sabah through the top view of your parasailing height. The enthralling excitement of your parachute shooting up and landing will be guided by their sail boat in an open sea. Feel the difference of parasailing in the middle of the ocean. Feel the adrenalin rush of speed and flight while you lift off with the sea hundred feet beneath your feet. Price: RM80.00 per session

Banana Boat / Flying Fish

Apart from snorkeling and diving, they offer you an obvious choice for adventure thirsty tourists visiting the pontoon with varieties of sporting activities. Experience these additional activities of group excitement with your loved one with our Banana Boat and Flying Fish boat. Another classic option and is loved by children and adults alike that many adventurers partake on the open sea. But hold on tight! Because the hard cornering does exert some serious gravitational pull like an F1 cornering. Be prepared to be thrown out from the boat, as seatbelts is not only optional, its non-existant. Price: RM30.00 per person/ride

Scenic Helicopter Ride

Experience the exhilaration of flying above and observing the formation of coral as it appears to float in the pristine blue water, as the sun enhance its natural beauty. This allows you to digest an aerial perspective of Sabah’s best great reef and its panoramic view. A must see, must experience option of your day with us. Price: TBA

To round up it all, its a great new experience to be on the largest reef activity pontoon in Asia. We had so much fun, only the day was so jealous of us that it had to pull out the sun and bring on the night so quickly.
