Malaysia stamp issue 2015: Joint Stamp Issue of ASEAN Community (C)
This is perhaps the last commemorative stamp issue by Pos Malaysia, the Joint Stamp Issue of ASEAN Community was made in commemoration of 48th anniversary of ASEAN (The Association of South East Asian Nations). Each country will be producing the stamp with the country’s name and currency, all using a a common design to reflect the “oneness” of the community.
While the date of issue is stated to be on August 8 (Saturday), the sale would only take place starting August 10 (Monday) in Malaysia.
Joint Stamp Issue of ASEAN Community
The stamp and postmark design was chosen from ASEAN stamp design contest held earlier this year. The judges for the competition are postal representatives from 10 countriesand 3 more from Universal Postal Union (UPU), Asian-Pacific Postal Union (APPU) and ASEAN Secretariat.
There were a total of 30 stamp and 25 postmarks designs submitted for the competition, where only one stamp and one postmark design will be chosen to be used for the commemoration day. Ultimately, Vietnam won the competition for the best stamp design (by Vu Kim Lien) and postmark design (Nyuyen Du).
To illustrate the concept of the stamp design, ASEAN Member States’ flags are unified in a form of flower. In the background, the pigeon symbolises the pacific aspect of the region. A handshake below the flags portrays friendship and the golden ears of rice refer to basic agriculture, the main ASEAN way of life.
As for the postmark design, the ASEAN emblem is placed in the middle of the design, circled by three lines which refer to the “three pillars” of ASEAN Community namely ASEAN Political-Security Community, ASEAN Economic Community, and ASEAN Socio – Cultural Community.

The Pearls stamp issue
I didn’t go for the morning rush to buy the stamps, instead I got at lunch time where there is less people. I happily bought what I needed and postmarked a bunch of postcards that are to be sent to my friends.
I bought a new black stamp pad that day because I realized the previous one had already dried up. Hopefully this stamp pad brand (Pelican) will not dry up quickly.
I didn’t bought much since I was reserving for month of August stamp issue, at least I got the nice parts. The stamp clerk was really helpful to get me what I wanted.

Calling out all Postcrossers who are in KK this August 8, 2015. We cordially invite you to our Postcrosser’s Meetup that is set to happen in CAD (Centre for Arts & Design) Kota Kinabalu. Lets mingle and share stories on how you get into Postcrossing and love for postcards. I didn’t make it for the previous ones, so this is the chance for me to meet up with other Postcrossers in Sabah in person.
