Introducing the new Volvo XC60 Drive E in Sabah
Members of the media and invited guests witnessed the unveiling of new and redesigned Volvo XC60 at Wisma Angkatan Hebat, 1Borneo showroom on November 11, 2014. The newly redesigned XC60 will be available in two variants – XC60 T5 & XC60 T6, through Volvo Car Malaysia’s authorised dealer in Sabah, Angkatan Hebat.
Both variants will be equipped with Volvo’s latest (and greatest) four-cylinder Drive-E powertrain. The XC60 T5 engine produces 245 hp and 350 Nm of torque, while the XC60 T6 produces 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Both engine variants will have an 8-speed Geartronic transmission.
There are five colours that buyers can choose from – Twilight Bronze, Ice White, Ember Black, Electric Silver, and Seashell and a host of optional accessories including the Iron Stone exterior styling kit, primed-colour running board and silver aluminium steps, mouldings for the front and rear, and also the 20” Diamond Cut or Iron Stone Alloy wheels.
While both T variants carries the same exterior and interior, the XC60 T5 is fitted with 17” Valder Alloy wheels with 235/65R17 tyres compared to the XC60 T6’s 8” Pan Alloy wheels with 235/60R18 tyres. The XC60 T6 will also feature an 8” Adaptive Digital Display, a power operated tailgate and a grocery bag holder in the cargo area.
Mr Keith Schäfer, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, was very enthusiastic about the new XC60, answering my questions about the SUV with much details. His great emphasis was the improved safety features for the new XC60.
Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection*, Adaptive Cruise Control with Collision Warning with Distance Alert and Queue Assist*, City Safety, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Closing Vehicle Warning (CVW), Cross Traffic Alert and Road Sign Information system*, these just a few of the safety features incorporated into the new car.
This aligns with Volvo Malaysia’s “Wawasan 2020”, a vision that there will be no serious injuries or fatalities, in or by a Volvo.
Exceptional interior and exterior designs, great and improved safety features and a whole lot more other features makes this SUV stand out from the cars I’ve seen before. It was a really great to meet Mr Keith and listened his sharing about XC60 and Volvo itself. If you are interested, you can always come by the showroom and have a test drive, the sales assistants are very knowledgeable so you can ask just about anything about the XC60.
The XC60 T5 will be available from RM292,888 (on-the-road price without insurance) while the XC60 T6 will be offered at a limited introductory offer of RM319,888 (on-the-road price without insurance). As with all new Volvos, both variants will come with a 5-year warranty, 5 years of free service including parts per scheduled maintenance, and 5 years of free roadside assist (Volvo-on-Call).
In order to achieve our vision of a safer future, we are offering customers a greater range of accessibility to our products by making luxury and critical safety technologies more affordable on one end of the spectrum and showcasing our latest safety innovations and high-end performance on the other. ~ Keith Schäfer, Managing Director, Volvo Car Malaysia.
