Honeydew and the weekend life in Kota Marudu town
While browsing my backup folder, I found a few short videos I took years with my Sony Ericsson phone. I upload this video in particular, a part of the untold stories from my work as a Maxis promoter in Kota Marudu (circa 2010).
I just got into Maxis at that time and I was assigned to be one of the team to be placed here in Kota Marudu. Location; Pekan Baru, Kota Marudu.
What seems like another cowboy town changes when it came to the weekends. Just in front of our retail centre, these vendors set up their melons and honeydews to be sold throughout the weekends.
There are also other vendors setting up their places as well,
We quickly became friends to one of the vendors, I observe their activity every weekend. Setting up at the exact same spot every weekend, how they endure the hot sun and also safeguarding their fruits at night from unsuspecting thieves.
I learned that they didn’t pack up and leave by the end of the day, they just sleep (while keeping guard) there for the night until Sunday.
Here’s the video I mentioned earlier,
On weekends, the town is bustling with peoples and vendors, some all the way from the interior, Kudat and even Pitas. Since we became friends with one of the vendors, they always pick up the best honeydew melons for us, and it tasted really good and fresh, way better that the ones I got in KK.
Ada yang manis ka?
